Theorem proving for conditional logics: CondLean and GOALDUCK
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we focus on theorem proving for conditional logics. First, we give a detailed description of CondLean, a theorem prover for some standard conditional logics. CondLean is a SICStus Prolog implementation of some labeled sequent calculi for conditional logics recently introduced. It is inspired to the so called “lean” methodology, even if it does not fit this style in a rigorous manner. CondLean also comprises a graphical interface written in Java. Furthermore, we introduce a goal-directed proof search mechanism, derived from the above mentioned sequent calculi based on the notion of uniform proofs. Finally, we describe GOALDUCK, a simple SICStus Prolog implementation of the goal-directed calculus mentioned here above. Both the programs CondLean and GOALDUCK, together with their source code, are available for free download at .

System description: CondLean
In this paper we present a theorem prover called CondLean for normal propositional conditional logics CK, CK+ID, CK+MP and CK+MP+ID. The theorem prover implements some sequent calculi for these logics recently introduced. The theorem prover is delveloped following the methodology of Lean-TAP and it is implemented in SICStus Prolog. The theorem prover also comprises a graphical user interface im...
متن کاملA Goal-Directed Calculus for Standard Conditional Logics
In this paper we focus on proof methods for conditional logics. We present US’, a goal-directed calculus for the basic normal conditional logic CK and its standard extensions ID, MP, and ID+MP. US’ is derived from some labelled sequent calculi, called SeqS’, and it is based on the notion of uniform proofs. We also introduce GoalDUCK, a simple implementation of US’ written in SICStus Prolog.
متن کاملTableau-Based Theorem Proving In Normal Conditional Logics
This paper presents an extension of the semantic tableaux approach to theorem proving for the class of normal conditional logics. These logics are based on a possible worlds semantics, but contain a binary “variable conditional” operator =E= instead of the usual operator for necessity. The truth of A +B depends both on the accessibility relation between worlds, and on the proposition expressed ...
متن کاملA tableau methodology for deontic conditional logics
In this paper we present a theorem proving methodology for a restricted but significant fragment of the conditional language made up of (boolean combinations of) conditional statements with unnested antecedents. The method is based on the possible world semantics for conditional logics. The label formalism introduced in [AG94,ABGR96] to account for the semantics of normal modal logics is easily...
متن کاملNested Sequent Calculi and Theorem Proving for Normal Conditional Logics
In this paper we focus on proof methods and theorem proving for normal conditional logics, by describing nested sequent calculi as well as a theorem prover for them. Nested sequent calculi are a useful generalization of ordinary sequent calculi, where sequents are allowed to occur within sequents. Nested sequent calculi have been profitably employed in the area of (multi)-modal logic to obtain ...
